Spyware infestation!
Spyware and Malware (this stands for malicious software) have become a big problem they operate unknown and can take partial control over your interaction with the internet. Have you ever downloaded a screensaver? These screen savers often come bundled with unwanted programs, anything you download over the net can have the potential to damage and corrupt your machine.

Virus!

Virus!
A computer virus is a computer program that can copy itself and infect a computer without permission or knowledge of the user. However, the term "virus" is commonly used, albeit erroneously, to refer to many different types of malware programs. The original virus may modify the copies, or the copies may modify themselves, as occurs in a metamorphic virus. A virus can only spread from one computer to another when its host is taken to the uninfected computer, for instance by a user sending it over a network or the Internet, or by carrying it on a removable medium such as a floppy disk, CD, or USB drive. You must always update virus software. Virus killing programs basically work from a list. So if a new virus arrives and it is not on the list the checker does not know this is a virus

Trojan Horse

Trojan Horse
First of all a Trojan is not a virus, if you stand back a look at it for a minute it is a very clever thing.
A Trojan horse, or simply trojan, is a piece of software which appears to perform a certain action but in fact performs another such as a computer virus. Look all nice and pretty on the outside but within it can contain viruses that can potentially destroy your PC or Laptop. They can install keyloggers, which record every keystroke, it can destroy files corrupt programs, even in some cases burnout hard drives. They can come with a timed release function, downloading but not actioning for weeks or months. If you have any P2P sofware on your machine you are opening up the gateway.
